HAMMOND | A Chicago man who pleaded guilty to four counts of selling heroin near a Lake County courthouse was sentenced Friday to more than 12 years in federal prison.

Marlone Ramone Bell, 37, sold 20 to 25 grams of heroin to a criminal informant in 2011, according to Hammond federal court records.

Bell had faced a maximum of 80 years in prison, but U.S. District Court Judge James Moody handed down the 151-month sentence based on federal sentencing guidelines. Bell also will be required to serve three years on supervised release following his prison sentence, court records show.
