HAMMOND | The School City of Hammond Title 1 Book Mobile visited city parks last summer during nutrition programs accompanied by Clifford the Big Red Dog.
The Book Mobile distributed hundreds of free books to children from newborn to 18 to promote literacy. Magician Tom Patton mesmerized crowds with his amazing tricks.
Parks visited were Harrison, MLK Memorial Park, Pulaski Park and Columbia Park.
Assisting with this years’ Book Mobile Project were Marilyn Jones, Anna Mamala and George Janiec, SCH Board members; Nancy Snider, Title 1 director; Tom Patton, chief administrator for Elementary Education; Denise Eismin, Jefferson School principal; Ryan Eckart, O’Bannon School assistant principal; Sara Marlow, Christy Markovich, Kriss Byquist and Amy Metrich, teachers; Amy Sweeney and Becky Hammar, literacy coaches ; Nancy Talavera, Title 1 office manager; and Cyndee Tanas, Title 1 administrative assistant.
