HAMMOND | Two people were rescued Monday morning from a boat in Lake Michigan northeast of Indiana Harbor.
The U.S. Coast Guard said the boaters sent a distress call at 10 a.m. over the marine radio because of water entering their boat.
Coast Guard officials were able to reach the boat and towed the vessel to the Hammond Marina, according to a news release. The men had a dewatering pump on board that they were using to remove the water.
The men already had contacted a mechanic to help once they reached shore, according to the release.
Coast Guard officials did not identify the two men or where they were from.
