HAMMOND | On Friday, December 16, Hammond's East Side Community Council (ESCC) held it's 2nd Annual Holiday Treats Give Away at Hammond High School for children ages 0-17.
Several Hammond businesses, council persons, employees, organizations, and citizens throughout the great city of Hammond came together and contributed monetary donations, toys, food, and their time for such a worthy cause.
"It was truly an amazing turnout," said Janet Venecz, Hammond Councilwoman At Large. "It was a proud day for the citizens of Hammond."
Appromixately 400 children and adults were in attendance. Numerous door prizes were raffled off before the gifts were given to the children. Seeing the volunteers work together was an example of the unity that this great city of Hammond has embraced over the years.
