HAMMOND | A former Morton High School teacher faces sentencing later this year after admitting to two counts of receiving child pornography.

Jon Erik Lilly, 27, of Cedar Lake, formally pleaded guilty to the charges earlier this week. Lilly is accused of asking underage female students to send him sexually explicit photos by cellphone.

Under a previously filed plea agreement, Lilly could faces an agreed term of 12 years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, court records state. Lilly also will have to register as a sex offender.

His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 26 in U.S. District Court, Hammond.

According to a federal complaint, four of Lilly's former students told investigators they sent the teacher sexually explicit photos at his request.

School City of Hammond Superintendent Walter Watkins previously said Lilly resigned from the district after administrators suspended him when the allegations arose.
