HAMMOND | A Gary woman accused of embezzling funds from the Painters District Council 91 was sentenced to three months in prison Wednesday in federal court.
Tracey Tigner will be placed on three years of supervised release following her time in prison, according to court records. She will also have to pay $30,462.35 in restitution.
In April, she pleaded guilty to one count of embezzling an undisclosed amount of funds from Painters District Council 91.
Tigner worked in the union's Merrillville office from November 2008 to April 2011 and is accused of embezzling the funds through cash payments, credit card purchases and checks, according to a sentencing memorandum.
The Merrillville office covers Indiana, central Kentucky and a portion of Tennessee.
