HAMMOND | The city will observe September as Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month.
The Hammond City Council passed a resolution Monday giving the designation. City Councilwoman Janet Venecz, D-at large, sponsored the resolution to increase public awareness of brain aneurysms.
“In Hammond, we know all too well the devastating affliction,” said Venecz, noting the death of City Councilwoman Kathleen Pucalik last year.
Pucalik, a popular member of the City Council, died after suffering an aneurysm.
