Hammond man charged with molesting 8-year-old

CROWN POINT | Prosecutors charged a 22-year-old Hammond man Wednesday with molesting a young relative.

The 8-year-old told authorities Christopher Galvan "did something bad to her" at least 10 times, the last time a couple of weeks before Super Bowl Sunday, according to court records.

The alleged abuse took place between Aug. 1 and Feb. 6, records say. The child demonstrated a variety of sexual acts, records state.

Galvan is alleged to have told the child if she told anyone "he would never talk to her again, and he would be kicked out of the house," records state.

Galvan is charged with two counts of felony child molesting.
