HAMMOND | A Hammond man admitted he is guilty of distributing child pornography, according to a plea agreement filed Wednesday in federal court.
Adam William Buckler was arrested in November 2011 after admitting to federal officers that he took part in viewing and storing child pornography on his computer and an external hard drive, court records state.
In exchange for pleading guilty to distributing child pornography, Buckler is asking the court to dismiss one charge of possession of child pornography, according to the agreement.
Buckler faces between five and 20 years in prison with up to life on supervised release.
The plea agreement also states Buckler will comply with the sex offender registry once released from prison. He could be fined up to $250,000 and would be ordered to undergo a sex offender evaluation.
When officials executed a search warrant at the residence Oct. 27, 2011, and asked Buckler if he knew why they were there, he told them, "because of what I do on the Internet," according to the records.
He led officials to his computer and hard drive under his bed, where they found more than 1,000 images and more than 100 videos of children — including one child younger than 2 — engaging in sexual activities, documents state.
