HAMMOND | A Hammond man has won $3 million in the Hoosier Lottery Scratch-off.
Ronald Woodworth claimed his prize Monday at the Hoosier Lottery headquarters in Indianapolis, nearly three weeks after he bought his winning ticket at Cline Avenue Food Mart in Schererville.
Woodworth said he took his time to consult with financial advisers and lawyers to develop a plan for investing and protecting his windfall.
Woodworth, who works as a driver for Quintel, said he does not plan on retiring.
He said he'll pay off all his bills, put new tires on his truck and buy a 1957 Chevy.
Woodworth is the first player to claim the $3 million top prize on the $3 Million Jackpot Scratch-off, which launched April 30. Four top prizes remain unclaimed.
