Hammond offers new and improved WHAM Ride

HAMMOND | "New and improved" is the way Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr. and the Hammond Port Authority describe the second annual WHAM Ride, set to begin Saturday evening at The Pavilion at Wolf Lake, 2324 Calumet Ave.

This year’s WHAM Ride route heads through Whiting, Hammond, and parts of Highland and Munster. There is a new All-Star Speed Wave for those looking for something more challenging than a leisure ride.

Entry fee is $15 with a T-shirt, goodie bag and breakfast.The pre-ride party starts at 9:30 p.m. at The Pavilion at Wolf Lake, with games, prizes and music.

Register online at Active.com (search WHAM) or daily at the Hammond Marina, 701 Casino Center Drive. Registration and packet pick-up is available from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Pavilion at Wolf Lake; stay for the free Northwest Indiana Symphony Concert at 7:30.

Packets can also be picked up from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at The Pavilion at Wolf Lake.
