HAMMOND | The Hammond Police Department is offering self-defense training for women in June.

The classes will teach the R.A.D. Systems of Self Defense, a program taught nationwide, according to Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller.

The program will run 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. June 17 to 19 at the Hammond YMCA, 7322 Southeastern Ave. The fee for the course is $20, but the department is offering 12 slots for free.
