HAMMOND | The Hammond Police Department issued 103 citations at area schools to parents who had not updated their license plates for the academic year, Police Chief Brian Miller said.

State law requires residents change their license plates within 60 days of moving into Indiana, Miller said.

The most citations were issued at Wallace Elementary School during the sting, with 11 handed out, Miller said. The department will begin such stings at apartment complexes soon, he said.
