HAMMOND | The Hammond Police Department issued about 1,000 warnings during a February reciprocity sting.
The warnings were issued to cars parked in residential neighborhoods, Hammond police Lt. Patrick Vicari said.
Officers impounded 129 vehicles for failure to transfer to Indiana plates within the state required time period. The vehicle's owners were cited for out-of-state plates and for out-of-state driver's licenses when applicable.
Officers also found 33 vehicles had switched to Indiana plates, Vicari said.
