Hopefully, April will bring Spring weather and some blooming flowers. Meanwhile, the City of Hammond is blooming with Spring activities, including:

Crime Watch meeting

Harrison Park Crime Watch will have its bi-monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday at VFW Post 802, 5820 Hohman Ave. The guest speaker will be North Township Trustee Frank Mrvan.

Indoor garage sale

Hammond Parks and Recreation Department is hosting an Indoor Garage Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 Mahoney Drive. Booths will feature a variety of items for sale.

Admission is free and concessions will be available. For more information, call (219) 554-0155.

Concert planned

Hammond Civic Center, 5825 Sohl Ave., along with Iconic and Aquavor, will bring Nelly and Soulja Boy to Hammond on April 19.

Meet the mayor

Join Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr. and his city department heads for the next Mayor’s Night Out, set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 24 at Edison Elementary School, 7025 Madison Ave. Citizens can hear the latest news about city government and ask questions.

April 25

The Mayor’s Office of Economic Development invites the public to attend the 10th annual Hammond Job Fair.

The job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 25 at the Jean Shepherd Community Center. This event is instrumental in addressing the employment needs of the residents of the City of Hammond and the Calumet Region, as well as assisting local companies in their recruiting efforts.
