College Bound

In 2006, the city of Hammond approved the College Bound Scholarship program as a 10-year commitment.  This unique opportunity provides students whose parents own a home in Hammond the ability to receive up to $10,200 per year towards the cost of college tuition.

The initial ordinance establishing College Bound will expire at the end of the 2015-16 school year. The city is considering new funding opportunities that will allow the program to continue. As part of the renewal process, a series of public forums is planned.

The next meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the cafeteria at Edison Elementary School, 7025 Madison Ave. The final meeting will be held Jan. 8 in the North banquet room at Lost Marsh Golf Course, 1001 129th St. For more information, call the College Bound office at (219) 853-6503.
