CHICAGO | A Hammond woman was killed in a vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Chicago, officials said.
Luwana Hethington, 48, died Saturday at John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital of Cook County after being involved in a vehicle crash, the Cook County medical examiner's Office said. An official cause of death was pending an autopsy.
Hethington was a passenger in a vehicle that struck an unoccupied parked car at about 3 p.m. on the 600 block of East 68th Street, Chicago police said.
The unidentified driver became distracted and hit the unoccupied car, police said. The driver's name was not released Sunday because charges were pending.
It wasn't clear how or why the driver became distracted.
