HAMMOND | Two people were indicted Wednesday over illegally acquiring Social Security funds.

In separate cases filed in U.S. District Court, Richard Dickus, 71, of Hebron, and Eva Lee Fisher, 74, of Hammond, allegedly received Social Security benefits of a deceased person, court documents state.

Dickus allegedly received $217,996 in benefits belonging to a person who died in April 1991 up until November 2013. Fisher allegedly received $64,930 in benefits belonging to an individual who died in January 2010, also through November 2013.

No information was available relative to the relationship of the suspects to the deceased individuals or how they allegedly received the Social Security benefits in question.
