HAMMOND | A Hammond woman accused of taking part in a ring that used counterfeit money was sentenced to 12 months of probation in federal court.
Krystal C. Puntillo-Raggs pleaded guilty April 25 to knowingly and with intent aiding and abetting the passing of counterfeit money.
According to the plea agreement, Puntillo-Raggs worked as a cashier from December 2011 to February 2012 and accepted counterfeit money from other defendants who purchase items at a store. The group would then exchange the items for cash.
Puntillo-Raggs has to pay $13,910 in restitution, according to court records.
