CROWN POINT | A 23-year-old Harvey, Ill., man was given a three-year sentence for placing an infant in a bathtub of scalding water, Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter announced Monday.
Joshua Crayton pleaded guilty but mentally ill to neglect of a dependent, admitting he injured the child while he was baby-sitting Sept. 2, 2011, in a Hammond home.
The child suffered burns, Carter said.
Court records show Crayton was sentenced to 36 months in prison, with 10 months suspended to be served on probation.
