MARKHAM | A Harvey woman was charged with felony child abduction after she allegedly abducted her infant during a supervised visit with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in November, officials said.

Taneil Curtis is being held without bond at the Cook County Jail, according to a sheriff's news release.

Curtis, 33, and her son were found in Memphis, Tenn., on Dec. 7, about a month after she allegedly took the child from a South Holland restaurant, the release states.

She had lost custody of her son but was permitted a supervised visit by DCFS at the restaurant.

Officials said this is the second time Curtis has tried taking her son. They say she left a hospital in February 2011 when he was born without telling hospital officials. They were found in September in Hammond.

She lost custody of three other children — ages 14, 4 and 3 — because of what sheriff’s police describe as a “substantial risk of physical harm.”

When she was arrested, she had four outstanding felony warrants. She also was charged with one count of battery and two counts of financial identity theft in connection with additional county warrants, the release states.

Her son is back in DCFS custody, officials said.

She is scheduled for a court appearance at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Markham.
