HAMMOND | A 44-year-old Hobart man was indicted Thursday on four counts of distribution of cocaine and one count of being an illegal alien.

Octavio Alejandre-Mata was previously deported from the United States, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office.

He was twice convicted of drug possession in Illinois in 2008 and also in Utah in 2009, according to a federal indictment.

The charges filed in U.S. District Court in Hammond were the result of an investigation by the FBI GRIT Task Force, the release states.
