HAMMOND | A former Gary councilwoman's sentencing in federal court has been pushed back to Oct. 29, according to court records.
Marilyn Krusas pleaded guilty in April to charges of tax evasion. According to court records, Krusas is accused of failing to file tax returns since 1991 and didn't pay taxes on a $232,680 inheritance.
She was scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 21. On Monday, Krusas filed a motion asking that her sentencing be pushed back to November because of medical treatments she has to undergo.
Krusas, who resigned from the City Council in April, will now be sentenced at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29.
