HAMMOND | A man was shot and killed Tuesday in the 600 block of Mulberry Street, Police Chief Brian Miller said.

Curtis Brown, 47, was shot to death in front of his home at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Lake County coroner's office.

Brown suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body in the apparent homicide, police said.

Several shots were fired in the area, and three men were seen fleeing in a silver Ford Mustang, Miller said. The vehicle is believed to have an Illinois license plate.

The victim was on his front porch when he was shot, Miller said. No one was in custody as of Tuesday afternoon, he said.

Police are requesting anyone with information to call Detective Dan Small or Detective David Carter at (219) 852-2906.
