HAMMOND | A man accused of killing a Hammond gun shop owner in 2000 was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday for the second time.
Styles Taylor, 33, was sentenced in federal court and was ordered to pay $11,275.97 in restitution, according to court records.
Styles and Keon R. Thomas were previously convicted in 2004 and sentenced to life in prison in the robbery and homicide of Frank Freund, 73, the owner of Firearms Unlimited in Hammond.
The case was sent to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in March 2011 because of questions surrounding the trial's jury selection. The first retrial in May 2012 ended in a mistrial. A second trial later that month resulted in both being found guilty by a jury.
Thomas was also sentenced again to life in prison in August.
