HAMMOND | Munster police executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon at a new Hammond night club.
Sgt. Steven Kovacik confirmed a warrant was served about 2 p.m. at AquaVor, 5260 Hohman Ave. He would not say what, if any, evidence was removed.
Their search came a week after the grand opening of AquaVor.
Michael Temores, a 24-year-old Munster man who attended the AquaVor grand opening, was charged with driving drunk and causing a death. He was involved in a wreck early the next morning near the intersection of Ridge Road and Hohman Avenue in Munster that killed 61-year-old Fred Skafgaard, of Lansing, according to police.
Temores was charged with 18 criminal and traffic offenses, the most serious being operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in a death, which is a Class B felony.
Carla Pyle, an attorney representing AquaVor, said the night club is cooperating with the police investigation and cannot comment on the matter.
