HAMMOND | A would-be Woodmar bank robber fled the scene empty-handed Friday morning while the teller read his stick-up note, police said.
Employees at Peoples Bank in the 7100 block of Indianapolis Boulevard told police a man entered the bank about 10 a.m. He handed a teller a note that claimed he had a gun and demanded money, police said.
As the teller read the note, the man ran out of the building and disappeared on foot before she could respond. The man was described as heavy-set, black and in his 20s, police said.
No money was taken and no injuries reported in the attempted robbery.
