HAMMOND | A Chicago man remains in critical condition after being struck by a car on Interstate 80/94 Saturday.
Talgat Orumbayev, 23, was identified Sunday as the man who walked into traffic from the Indianapolis Boulevard ramp onto Interstate 80/94 Saturday night, Indiana State Police said.
Terri Sams, 53, of Schererville, was driving a 2006 BMW and was unable to stop in time and hit Orumbayev, police said.
Orumbayev was taken to the Community Hospital in Munster and later airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Indiana State police said he remained in critical condition Sunday.
Sams was taken to Community Hospital in Munster with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
