HAMMOND | Police continue investigating an August shooting that injured one person and damaged an officer's home.
Hammond police said Tuesday that they have identified suspects and charges are pending. No one was in custody as of Tuesday night.
The shooting happened at 3 a.m. Aug. 31 in the 3400 block of Orchard Drive, police said. The shooting stemmed from an argument at a birthday party on the 7500 block of Montana Avenue.
One of the people involved in the argument then called someone else asking them to intimidate those involved in the argument. At least two people drove by the house in a blue Chevrolet Impala.
Someone inside the Impala opened fire at one of the people involved in the argument as they were leaving the party, police said. The person was injured by ricochet from the gunshots.
The person was treated at a local hospital for an injured hand.
A Hammond police officer's bay window, vinyl siding and drywall were damaged by the gunfire. No one inside the home was injured and police do not think the officer's home was a target.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Hammond Police Department at (219) 853-6490 or Sgt. Thomas Textor at (219) 852-2973.
