HAMMOND | Mitch Markovitz will host a Gallery Talk in conjunction with his exhibit, “Postcards from my Sixty-Two and a Half Year Vacation,” currently featured at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Markovitz will walk attendees through the exhibit while discussing works and taking questions.
Markovitz plans to highlight his early work, the New York and regional pastel development works, and the progression of the poster work. After a brief discussion, Markovitz will walk through the exhibit and take any questions. After the walk-through, attendees will be able to visit with Markovitz and have posters signed.
Markovitz is best known for his contributions to the South Shore Line poster series “Just Around the Corner,” which highlights various places found in Northwest Indiana. Posters from this series were one of the main design inspirations for the new South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority website. Markovitz is also known for his series of paintings from the “Postcards From My 10 Year Vacation” series in New York.
The exhibit is open and free to the public through March 22. For more information, visit www.southshorecva.com.
