HAMMOND | Purdue University Calumet faculty will display and showcase scholarly research during Faculty Research & Scholarship Day on Tuesday.
Posters of 92 research projects will be on display beginning at 1 p.m. in Alumni Hall of the university’s Student Union and Library. Faculty researchers will be on hand to discuss their scholarly efforts and answer questions from 2:30 to 4.
Community members are invited to attend. Admission is free.
“Our faculty members are engaged in world class research projects that influence and benefit our communities and industries,” Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Professor of Mechanical Engineering Chenn Zhou said. “Faculty Research & Scholarship Day provides an opportunity for our campus and communities to learn more about how Purdue Calumet faculty members are impacting society.”
The researchers represent all six of PUC’s academic colleges: Business; Education; Engineering, Mathematics and Science; Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Nursing; and Technology.
“Research activity is valuable helping faculty members stay current in their respective scholarly fields, as well as advancing new knowledge,” Zhou said.
She added that many faculty members introduce students to research opportunities to enhance their education by learning through engagement and discovery.
