HAMMOND | Purdue University Calumet will celebrate Chinese New Year Feb. 24 with a variety of events.
Year of the Snake festivities will begin at 1:30 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. Events include dinner, karaoke, social time and entertainment. Dancers and singers are scheduled to perform traditional selections.
The first day of the year on the lunar calendar, Chinese New Year is considered among the most important holidays for Chinese people.
The event is sponsored by the Purdue University Calumet Chinese Student Association, Purdue Calumet Student Government, the Mulit-Cultural Campus Council, Student Activities, Purdue Calumet Student Government and the university's International Programs Office.
