HAMMOND | A festive array of activities is scheduled when Purdue University Calumet welcomes new and continuing students to its community of scholars and a new academic year, Thursday (8/23).
The sixth annual campus celebration begins at 11 a.m. with a procession of Purdue Calumet faculty and administrators attired in academic regalia to the center of campus near Founders Plaza. They will gather for a brief Student Convocation that includes remarks from Chancellor Thomas Keon. Additionally, faculty members will form a panel to share their personal experiences as college students. A student group also will discuss challenges and opportunities of pursuing a Purdue education.
Following the Convocation, students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a Welcome Week Resource Fair and lunch on the campus lawn. There will be food booths and music. Festivities continue until 2 p.m. In case of inclement weather, all activities will be held inside the Student Union & Library.
Fall term classes officially begin Monday (8/20) at Purdue Calumet’s Hammond campus and Academic Learning Center in Merrillville. Late Registration takes place next week, Monday (8/20) through Friday (8/24).
