HAMMOND | Johnel's Restaurant of Hammond will hold a fundraiser Friday to benefit the Alumni & Friends of Hammond Schools.
The restaurant, 4141 Calumet Ave., will donate 15 percent of profits from dine-in or carry-out customers between 5 and 8 p.m.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will support teacher, classroom and school grants designed to provide extraordinary learning experiences to help Hammond students succeed.
Alumni & Friends is an arm of the nonprofit Hammond Education Foundation, which supports educational excellence and student success in ways that go beyond the School City of Hammond budget.
It advances Hammond student success through fundraising events, high school Success Days, collaboration with high school reunion committees and various other success/improvement initiatives.
