SCHERERVILLE | A Schererville man was arrested Wednesday and accused of having more than 4,000 files of child pornography on his computer, according to court records.
Matthew Jasek faces federal charges of receipt of child pornography, according to court records.
Officials began investigating Jasek on Aug. 16 when a law enforcement officer was searching a peer-to-peer sharing network where pornographic files were being shared, according to the complaint.
The undercover officer downloaded at least two pornographic videos of children from an IP address traced to Jasek, according to court records. One of the girls in the videos was between 11 and 13 years old.
After a search warrant was executed at his apartment, Jasek told officials he has been interested in child pornography for eight years, according to the complaint. He showed officials a folder on his computer that had about 4,000 files of child pornography, according to the complaint.
