HAMMOND | A second man is facing a charge in connection with a purse snatching at the Walmart on 165th Street, Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller said.

John Ronald Mullins, 18, of Schererville, was charged with robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Class B felony, Miller said.

Mullins was charged along with Tyler Flores, 19, of Merrillville, who also is facing a felony robbery charge.

Police responded to the Walmart on Friday after a man threw a woman to the ground to steal her purse.

Police stopped the car at 165th Street and McCook Avenue, where three individuals were initially taken into custody. The third person was released, Miller said.
