HAMMOND | A settlement appears close in the federal court case dealing with Facebook comments made by three Griffith Middle School girls.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana and the girls' families sued Griffith Public Schools last year after the students were expelled for the comments.
According to an update filed Wednesday in federal court, a settlement agreement is in the process of being finalized and the parties are “optimistic that this case will be resolved in the foreseeable future.”
The parties will update the court on settlement negotiations by March 29, federal court records state.
