CROWN POINT | A 24-year-old Hobart man faces multiple charges in a shooting earlier this month at the Michigan Bar and Grill in Hammond.
Jose Gutierrez is charged with murder, attempted murder, battery by means of a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness in the double shooting that left one dead.
Police were called to the bar about 2 a.m. Nov. 2 to find Jose Herrera shot in the head and Rey Sanchez-Guadrarrama shot in the calf of his left leg.
Herrera was transported to Christ Advocate Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he later died.
Bullet holes were found in the front wall and window of the bar, according to the probable cause affidavit.
A video surveillance camera showed a subject wearing an unzipped hoodie attempting to enter the bar's front door, which had been locked.
The man is shown displaying a handgun and wearing a T-shirt matching a T-shirt witnesses said Gutierrez had been wearing inside the bar before being put out due to an altercation with a customer, the affidavit states.
