Enjoy lunch and a musical

MUNSTER | The Munster Parks and Recreation Department will host a luncheon and "A Christmas Carol, The Musical" from noon to 3 p.m. at the Center for Visual & Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road. Lions plan open house

SCHERERVILLE | The St. John and Dyer Lions clubs will host an open house for individuals and families who want to learn more about the Lions and their work in the community. It's from 6 to 8 p.m. at the St. John Township Community Center, 1515 U.S. 30, Schererville. Light food will be served, and dogs from the Leader Dog group will be there.

Home buyer workshop offered

M'ville to light holiday tree

MERRILLVILLE  | Merrillville will host its holiday parade and light its Christmas tree. Ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m. at 73rd Avenue and Broadway and end at Town Hall, 7820 Broadway. Indoor festivities will include vendors, entertainment, pictures with Santa and refreshments. Horse and buggy rides will be offered.


Garage, card and comic show

HIGHLAND | The Highland Parks and Recreation Department sponsors a garage, card and comic show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at  Lincoln Community Center, 2450 Lincoln St. Highland. More than 150 vendors are featured.

Pastors gather for service

WHITING | An interdenominational Thanksgiving service, featuring area pastors and their congregations, is from 2 to 3 p.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 2011 Clark St. A freewill offering benefits the Whiting Food Pantry, and a social will follow immediately after the service in the church hall.

AIDS Awareness gospel fest

GARY | To kick off World AIDS Day, the Gary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host the Lifting Our Voices for AIDS Awareness Gospel Fest from 3 to 6 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 1276 W. 20th Ave., Gary. It features music, praise dancers and an opportunity for communities to discuss HIV. Free testing will be provided.
