It's a Happy Noon Year in Schererville

SCHERERVILLE | The Schererville Parks and Recreation Department hosts a Happy Noon Year party for kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Schererville Community Center, 500 E. Joliet St. It includes a pizza party, special activities and a balloon drop at noon. Cost is $25 for Schererville residents, $27 for nonresidents.

Bellaboo's has special holiday plans

LAKE STATION | Bellaboo's Discovery Center, Three Rivers County Park, 2800 Colorado St., Lake Station hosts a Bellabration, a New Year's Eve daytime program for children 8 and younger. It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes a balloon drop at noon and 4 p.m. and Goodbye Parade at 5 p.m. Royal dress code is required for all young kings and queens. It includes music, dancing, cooking classes, art and stories. Regular admission prices apply. Cost varies by age. Ice Plaza hosts New Year skating party

MERRILLVILLE | Families are welcome to ring in the New Year with a disc jockey from 5 to 10 p.m. at Deep River Waterpark Ice Skating Plaza, 9001 E. U.S. 30, Merrillville. Skate from 5 to 10 p.m. Craft classes are offered from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and there;s a countdown with a sparkling juice toast at 8 p.m. in the Paddler's Time Zone. Cost is $5 for skate rental. Crown Point hosts pizza bash for kids

CROWN POINT | The Crown Point Mayor's Office of Special Events sponsors a New Year's Eve party for kids from 2 to 5 p.m. at St. Matthias Parish Hall, 101 W. Burrell Drive. It's a dance party with a disc jockey, a magician and pizza. There is a minimal fee is $5 per person; children under 2 admitted free of charge. Call ahead to register at (219) 662-3240.

Weird Science camp in session in S'ville

Christmas Tree Bonfire at fairgrounds

CROWN POINT | Crown Point's 16th annual Christmas Tree Bonfire is from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 889 S. Court St. Admission is free; hot chocolate and popcorn are complimentary. Families with real Christmas trees may drop them off through today at the fairgrounds.
