HAMMOND | Traffic on a segment of busy 165th Street will be restricted this month to remove abandoned railroad tracks.
The street will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Harrison Avenue and Hohman Avenue from Monday through July 21 as Walsh & Kelly Construction of Griffith replaces the former Monon Line tracks with concrete pavement.
The work is part of the Monon Trail project to create a hiking and biking link along Lyman Avenue from Douglas Street south into Munster.
Work on the trail is expected to be completed in September.
