HAMMOND | The Traveling World of Reptiles slithered its way into Gavit Middle School in February. Sixth and seventh grade students in the Constellation and Planet communities were able to hold, pet, and sometimes even wear a variety of creepy crawlies.
Some of the cold blooded visitors included a variety of lizards and other interesting creatures such as a monitor lizard, a Burmese python, a giant bull frog, an American alligator, and a green iguana.
Several of the students even got to take a slow ride on boulder the African tortoise. Students were also instructed on the care of these reptilian creatures and told which would and wouldn’t make a good pet.
