High winds Tuesday could make driving a challenge, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible, and could blow around any loose objects, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory for Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper and Newton counties is in effect until 10 p.m.

The weather service's Romeoville office said peak winds are expected between noon and 6 p.m. to the south and east of its coverage area, which does not include LaPorte County. Peak winds are expected between 3 and 9 p.m. to the north and west of coverage area.

Rain could turn to snow Tuesday night, then return Wednesday.
