HIGHLAND | Highland Chamber of Commerce installed its executive officers for 2013 at a recent membership meeting.
The organization's leaders are: President Victor Garcia, March of Dimes; Vice President Michelle Anderson, First Financial Bank; Secretary Carrie Upchurch, Standard Bank & Trust; Treasurer Monica Rubio, First Midwest Bank; Past President John Freyek, Citizens Financial Bank; and Directors Terry Trusgnich, Aide Rental & Sales II, and Fred Leep, Pleasant View Dairy.
The new officers also announced a new program, Best of Highland, to commend those in the Highland community who have positively impacted the Town of Highland in 2012.
The chamber is encouraging everyone from all town departments and the business community to nominate someone they find deserving of recognition by Friday.
"This event reinforces our chamber's mission to 'Promote Good Business,'" said Garcia. "To support this event, please consider nominating a fellow chamber member and attending or sponsoring a company table."
Three nominees will be chosen in each category - Beautification, Business Person and Volunteer for Highland Chamber Awards; and Fire, Police/VIP, Parks department, Public works, School town and other civil servants for Highland Civil Servant Awards - and the winners will be announced March 7 during an event at Wicker Park.
The event will feature local restaurants offering food samples and competing for the Best Restaurant Award, which will be determined by vote and announced after the other awards are presented.
