CROWN POINT | A Chicago woman pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lake County criminal court to five felony charges stemming from pickpocketing incidents throughout Lake County during 2012.
Carolyn Lagrone Bradley, 33, was originally charged with five Class C and Class D felony counts for allegedly targeting women shoppers in stores in Highland, Dyer, Hobart and Schererville during July and August of 2012.
According to the probable cause affidavits, Bradley removed the wallets from the purses in shopping carts, then used the money and credit cards to buy gift cards and receive cash back on purchases.
Her plea agreement with Lake County prosecutors resolves the five cases.
Bradley is facing consecutive sentences of seven years with the Indiana Department of Correction, one year in the community corrections program and two years of probation.
Criminal Court Judge Diane Boswell took the plea agreement under advisement and will sentence Bradley on April 16.
