HIGHLAND | Youth groups of the First Presbyterian Church of Highland are raising money to serve the communities of Montgomery, W.V., and Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic, during two mission trips this summer.
In West Virginia the youth will serve the disabled, veterans and the elderly with home repairs. In the Dominican Republic, they will volunteer at an orphanage founded by Kids Alive of Valparaiso. The youth will serve children who came off the streets or have been abandoned. There they will be working on the orphanage building and offering worship and games for the children.
The youth groups will host two major fundraisers in March to raise money to support their mission trips. The first is a dinner and auction at 5 p.m. Saturday, and they also will run the church's popular annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 28 and 8 a.m. to noon March 29. Both events will be held at the church, 8727 Delaware Ave., Highland.
