E.C. police vet joins Highland force; ranks increase to 36

HIGHLAND | The Highland Town Council has sworn in a new police officer, bringing the force up to 36.

Daniel Ponce, 37, joins the department after more than eight years with the East Chicago Police Department.

Ponce, who lives in Schererville, said most of his family lives in Highland and that he is nervous and excited about his new job.

"I come here with high expectations of myself," he said.
