HIGHLAND | The Highland Rotary Club recently presented six, $500 scholarships to Highland students through the Dollars for Scholars program.

The recipients are Tiffany Fordyce, Alysia Jones, Vanessa Madrigal, Aaron Munoz,  Kristina Sacketos and Brenna Vernengo.

The club also presented a $1,000 Bill Johnston Memorial Scholarship to Catherine Russo in memory of Johnston, a longtime Highland Rotarian, Highland businessman and Highland Chamber of Commerce member.

The Highland Rotary Club's annual Corn Roast will be held fro 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in Main Square Park, 3001 Ridge Road. Tickets are $6 in advance, or $8 at the park, for all the corn you can eat, a hot dog or sausage sandwich, sauerkraut, dessert and a beverage.

Purchase tickets at Cakes by Karen, 8632 Kennedy Ave.; Lincoln Center, 2450 Lincoln St.; or the Highland Chamber of Commerce office, 8536 Kennedy Ave. Proceeds from the corn roast benefit the Rotary's annual scholarships, dictionary project, and the Highland police, fire and parks departments.
