HIGHLAND | Highland police caught two men early Friday who were cutting catalytic converters out of cars, officials said.

Andrew Lee Haywood, 33, and Jaleel J. Holmes, 21, were arrested on charges of theft and resisting law enforcement, police said.

A Highland man called police to his home in the 8800 block of Schneider Avenue about 3 a.m. Friday after he heard sawing noises outside.

Police found a man under a vehicle with a flashlight, according to a news release. The man quickly got into a vehicle, which sped away.

Police gave chase and cornered the getaway vehicle in a nearby parking lot, where two men got out and ran, police said. Haywood was caught, and officers found Holmes hiding on a rooftop, police said.
