HIGHLAND | The Town Council has made its citizen appointments to several boards and commissions.
Council President Dan Vassar, D-3rd, made a number of executive appointments, including returning Mark Schocke to the Plan Commission.
Steve Mileusnich joins the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Bridget DeYoung, Jim Kessler and Greg Kuzmar return to the Redevelopment Commission.
Keith Bruxvoort and George Georgeff return to the Water Board and Mark Knesek returns to the Sanitary Board.
Vassar also named Clerk-Treasurer Michael Griffin to remain on the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission.
Among appointments made jointly by the full council, Nick Russo was named to the Park Board, while Dominic Noce returns to the Redevelopment Commission along with newcomer Heather Peterson.
Tracy Oprea and Kimberly Grasch will sit on the Main Street Bureau while Sonyelle Clark joins the Community Events Commission.
Each council member also will sit on, or be liaison to, the various boards.
Councilman Dennis Adams, D-4th, will work with the Information Technology and Traffic Safety boards and sit on the Lake County Solid Waste board.
Council vice president Konnie Kuiper, D-2nd, will be liaison to the Fire Department, Chamber of Commerce and sit on the Plan Commission.
Councilman Mark Herak, I-2nd, sits on the Sanitary, Water and Community Events boards and also will serve as the budget chairman.
Councilman Bernie Zemen, D-1st, will sit on the Park Board and Police Commission and work with the Chamber of Commerce.
Vassar will serve on the Redevelopment Commission and chair the Police Pension Board.
